My bio

My name is Hossein Kazemi. I was born in Tehran, Iran. I moved to the Netherlands to pursue my higher education in Amsterdam. I obtained my MSc in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in 2011 from the University of Amsterdam. I had the privilege to study under the supervision of great minds such as Maarten van Someren (R.I.P) and Maarten de Rijke.

After graduation, I worked as a Data Scientist and Software Developer for several companies. I always wanted to start my own company, but I was not able to do so because of work permit issues. In 2015, I obtained Dutch nationality. The same day I picked up my Dutch passport, I quit my job and entered the world of tech entrepreneurship.

Over the next few years, I built multiple successful and failed companies; They say:

"If you're not failingyou're not learningIf you're not learningyou're not growing. If you're not growing, you're not living."

I am currently the co-founder and CEO of Xeco Labs, which I founded with two other friends in 2018. We build sophisticated software products for the investment sector.

With my experience and network, I love helping other founders with business or technical challenges. I am an organiser of the Amsterdam Startups Meetup, which provides a platform for startups to shine.

I am a mindset and boxing fanatic and lead the Founders Boxing Club, a boxing and mindset community for founders. As a founder, I fully understand the chaos, stress, and sometimes loneliness that entrepreneurship can bring. Boxing helped me set my mind right, and I advocate it to anyone who wants a relaxed mind. I box at PT Boxing and enjoy being coached by three current and former Dutch champions.
